Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) primarily used by electric utility industry, is ideal for power transmission lines working both as optical fiber cable and overhead ground wire for protection from lightning strikes and short circuit conductions.  Designed to withstand the mechanical stresses applied to overhead cables by environmental factors such as wind and ice. The OPGW consists of a stainless-steel tube optical unit, aluminum cladding steel wire and aluminum alloy wire.
